Dance is about as expressive as an art form gets, whether it’s ballroom, line or ballet. Good dance photography is almost an extension of the dance itself, holding on to the grace of the performer and the movement of the routine in a single frame. Our photographers know how to get the best out of a performance, and we cover competitions, shows and dance school events right across the UK.

We work in two ways depending on the occasion and what you’re after, and most events end up wanting a bit of both. Some organisers come to us purely for the stage coverage; others want the studio running all day so families have something to take home. Either suits us, and we’re glad to talk it through before the event so the plan fits how your day actually runs.

Action shots from the performance

We shoot the action as it happens, catching your favourite dancer or the whole ensemble mid-movement. Blur-free action photography is a speciality of ours. Fast routines, low stage lighting and quick changes of direction are exactly the conditions we set up for, so the shot stays crisp where a phone or a snapshot would smear. Individual and group shots are taken and processed much the same way, and neither loses the life or energy of the routine.

These images do a good deal more than sit in an album. A single strong dance photograph turns into a keepsake, and it also makes ideal material for a school or company’s website, flyers and adverts.

Dance has been part of how people communicate, socialise and unwind for as long as we’ve been around, and a good action shot carries a bit of that across. We work to keep the energy of a routine intact in the still frame, so a parent looking back sees the moment as it felt rather than a flat pose. Whatever the style on stage, ballroom, line, ballet or anything between, the aim doesn’t change.

An on-site studio with instant prints

The other way we lift an event is by bringing an on-site studio. We turn up at the venue free of charge and set up the studio alongside up to 10 viewing stations. Portraits of individuals or groups can be taken and printed right there, and with our on-site printing you’ll see the results in a matter of seconds rather than weeks.

You needn’t worry about power, either. We can bring our own low-noise supply, which lets us set up in halls and venues that wouldn’t otherwise have the electrical capacity, and without a generator droning away through the performances.

And if the mobile studio suits you, our green screen is well worth a look. We can drop in just about any background you fancy, so if you like the idea of a dancer pirouetting against a sweep of red velvet curtains, that’s easily done.
